Change Racing Confident Heading to Lime Rock Park
Change Racing looks to build on sixth place finish in previous outing at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park
Drivers: Corey Lewis & Jeroen Mul
Car: The No. 16 Change Racing XBOX / Monster Energy / Orion Lighting Lamborghini Huracán GT3
Broadcast Schedule: The Northeast Grand Prix will be televised LIVE on FS2 with coverage beginning at 3:00 PM ET on Saturday July 22nd
The Track: Lime Rock Park is the shortest and arguably the most technical track on the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship schedule. Although only 1.5-miles long, the track requires constant focus as drivers navigate through seven turns including Lime Rock’s iconic “Big Bend.”
CTMP Rearview: Change Racing began the CTMP weekend completing repairs from a crash at Watkins Glen and was quickly on the pace for the return to IMSA racing action in Canada. Drivers Corey Lewis and Jeroen Mul raced through mixed weather conditions at CTMP, roughing a wet track on slick Continental Tires. Consistency paid dividends as the team took sixth at the checkered flag.
Lamborghini Living: Both Lewis and Mul are working with the Lamborghini brand to help gain exposure through events and arrive-and-drives. During the short time between the CTMP and Lime Rock weekends, both drivers participated in Lamborghini events 5,000 miles apart.
Lewis traveled to Seattle for Giro 2017 PNW, a five-day, four-night trek up the northwest coast. Lewis led a group of select participants as they drove 700-miles, stopping for private meals along the Pacific Coastline and Puget Sound.
After CTMP, Mul traveled back to Europe to be a part of the Waldorf Astoria Driving Experience in Versailles, France. Mul took VIP guests of the Trianon Palace Versailles on rides to fully experience the capabilities of the Lamborghini.
“Last weekend I was the instructor for a three day event in Versailles where I had a fleet of four cars: 2 Aventador S, 1 Huracan Spyder 610-4 and a Huracan Coupe 580-2,” said Mul. “During this event I gave the guests a brief product presentation on the full model range, instructions on how to operate our cars and guided them on a 30 minute scenic test drive around the historic French city of Versailles, mainly demonstrating the wide range of capabilities that our current model range has. From being easy and comfortable to maneuver around a city centre, to being absolutely thrilling and the ultimate joy to drive on more open French country roads.”
Lewis Back at Lime Rock: Growing up on the east coast, Lewis is no stranger to Lime Rock Park. Last year, the No. 16 Change Racing Lamborghini scored its first pole of the year, and finished the race eighth.
Sim Prep for Mul: Mul continues to learn many of the American tracks on the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship calendar, including Lime Rock Park. Mul is preparing for the short yet technical 1.5-mile circuit through his simulator and XBOX Forza training.
Corey Lewis: “Last year we had a very good race car, we started on pole and had decent pace through the race. We are planning on continuing our strong form this weekend coming off of the last event at CTMP. I always enjoy coming back to Lime Rock Park, this was the first race track I had driven when I did my three day Skip Barber School back in 2004-2005. I’d always consider this race as a bullring because of the sub one minute lap times. I can’t wait to get to work!”
Jeroen Mul: “Lime Rock will be yet another new experience for me. Visiting all these new tracks is something I look forward to in itself. And training Lime Rock on the sim was already a lot of fun! This short track is surprisingly technical and since the lap times are so short, the field will be very close. This makes it that much harder and more challenging to end up at the top of the leaderboard. I have all the confidence in the Change Racing guys that we can get it done this weekend.”
