Imperiale Racing starts over from Estoril to confirm its role of protagonist in International GT Open 2018

12.04.2018 – Imperiale Racing’s sporting season 2018 is about to kick off this coming weekend from Estoril (P) for the opener of International GT Open 2018.

The Italian outfit is at its second complete participation in the championship, after the extraordinary debut of last year that ended up in the victory of both the Teams and Drivers titles. Imperiale Racing will get to Estoril resolute to continue the great experience started last season and confirm its place among the absolute protagonists of this championship that is the reference for GT races in Europe.

Imperiale Racing colors will be defended for the whole season by very strong driver lineups on three Lamborghini Huracán GT3. Reigning Champion Giovanni Venturini (ITA) will share driving duties with Jeroen Mul (NL) on the #63 car in PRO, while Riccardo Agostini (ITA) and Rik Breukers (NL) will drive the #25 challenger. The #19 car will compete in Pro AM with Raffaele Giammaria (ITA) and Jia Tong Liang (PRC) behind the wheel.

The opener of Estoril is certainly going to be very exciting on a track that has always produced a great motorsport spectacle. Its 4.182 meters remind the layout of Montmelò in Barcelona, but has very different features too. Turn one, after the long pit straight is a first gear kink that offers several overtaking chances, while the mid part of the track and the final sector are more driven and lead to the parabolic corner dedicated to Ayrton Senna that leads to the pit straight.

The weekend will start on Thursday with three testing sessions at 13:00, 15:00 and 17:00 (GMT +1). Two free practice sessions will follow on Friday at 11:20 and 15:20 to give a first complete picture of the values on the field. The first qualifying session will take place on Saturday at 9:40, while race one will get underway in the afternoon from 15:15. The second qualifying session on Sunday at 9:25 will be followed by race two at 13:15.

Weather forecasts see a particularly wet weekend ahead, with rain possible from Friday to Sunday.

Some important novelties involve media coverage in Italy. Rai Sport will show the racing action from Estoril with a schedule still to be defined. The official website of the championship will provide a live streaming feed with commentary also in Italian.
